Capitol applies for HP EdTech Innovators Award

Capitol College recently applied for an HP EdTech Innovators Award, which recognizes pioneers in education who are using technology in groundbreaking ways. The award encourages widespread adoption of best practices and new ideas and supports those educators with the technology needed to replicate, advance and share their successes.

The EdTech Innovators Award includes a technology grant of almost $40,000 and a membership in an educators’ social network with access to support, training and other resources for sharing ideas and best practices.

Capitol’s concept, “Capturing Lectures in the Interactive Classroom” is a proposal that will use grant funds to include lecture capture within the interactive traditional classroom for undergraduate students at the crucial times within a student’s academic career to bolster their academic success.

Here are some of the comments Capitol's concept received:

  • "Capitol College is the best online learning experience that I have ever had. The instructors make excellent use of the online bulletin board and lecture environment - it really is just like being in class except that participants are all across the United States. The instructors are also real world teachers with real world knowledge, which is very important in my field."
  • "Outstanding program. Very knowledgeable instructors. The hybrid learning format allowed me to pursue the MSEE degree, which would have otherwise been difficult to accomplish given my current geographical location."
  • "I am an alumnus from Capitol. They have always been on the forefront of educational technology. Their history of innovation has made them a beacon for great instructors and students. They definitely get my vote."
  • "Capitol College does a good job of putting to good use different technologies and resources that are available. The online classes are innovative and provide you with a learning experience that rivals in class lectures but offers more convenience."
  • "I am definitely voting for Capitol College. As a veteran student of Capitol College, I attended traditional classroom lectures for my bachelor’s degree and have taken virtual classes as well. The interactive/virtual online classes are no different from the traditional classroom lectures, except in the virtual portal. The college brings the classrooms to you with unparallel comfort. Capitol's concept is emblematic of the future and an idea to be emulated."

Thank you for voting!
