Effective Fall 2016, Capitol Technology University established a tuition discount for active duty service members. 

Tuition is $250 per credit hour, plus fees (additional discounts and scholarships do not apply) for all Active Duty Service-members and their spouses pursuing undergraduate degree programs and $350 per credit hour, plus fees (additional discounts and scholarships do not apply) for all Active Duty Service-members and their spouses pursuing master's degree programs and $850 per credit hour, plus fees (additional discounts and scholarships do not apply) for all Active Duty Service-members and their spouses pursuing doctorate degree programs.

Retired military receive a $100 per credit hour tuition discount for Undergraduate and Masters degrees. A $50 per credit hour tuition discount for Doctoral degrees

Here are some of your funding options:

Grants

The federal government has grant programs for students who demonstrate financial need. Maryland and many other states also have need-based grant programs for full and part-time students.

Grants are financial aid awards that do not have to be paid back. To be considered for grants, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Grants are available to undergraduate students.

• Federal Pell Grant. Pell Grants are free money awarded by the Federal Government to undergraduate students who demonstrate exceptional financial need. Filing the FAFSA constitutes applying for a Pell Grant. Make sure to include Capitol Technology University's School Code, #001436 on the FAFSA. Once the Financial Aid Office receives the FAFSA results you will be notified of your award.
• National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant (National SMART Grant). An eligible student must receive a Pell Grant during the same award year; be a U.S. citizen; be a full-time student in his or her third or fourth academic year of undergraduate degree study; be pursuing a major in physical, life, or computer sciences, mathematics, technology, engineering or critical foreign language; and have at least a 3.0 grade point average as of the end of the second award year and continue to maintain a 3.0 grade point average.
• The Howard P. Rawlings Educational Excellence Awards. These grants are awarded by the Maryland Higher Education Commission, Office of Student Financial Assistance to full-time Maryland residents who file their FAFSA by March 1st deadline. The FAFSA is the application.
• Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (SEOG). Another program of the federal government, SEOG grants are given to students with exceptional financial need. Students who have filed their FAFSA by March 1 and meet eligibility requirements are automatically considered for a SEOG grant.
• Veterans of the Afghanistan and Iraq Conflicts (VAIC) Scholarship. VAIC is awarded by Maryland Higher Education Commission, Office of Student Financial Assistance and is designed to provide financial assistance to United States armed forces personnel who served in the Afghanistan or Iraq Conflicts, and their sons, daughters, or spouses who are current high school seniors, and full-time or part-time, degree-seeking undergraduate students enrolled in an eligible accredited Maryland postsecondary institution.
• Maryland Part-Time Grant. These grants are funded by the Maryland Higher Education Commission, Office of Student Financial Assistance.  Awards are made by Capitol Technology University to Maryland residents enrolled part-time (3 to 11 credits) in a degree program, who have demonstrated financial need and who have completed the FAFSA. Priority is given to those who filed their FAFSA by March 1st. These funds are limited.
• Maryland Guaranteed Access Grant (GA). These grants are awarded by the Maryland Higher Education Commission, Office of Student Financial Assistance to current high school seniors who complete a college preparatory program, demonstrate financial need and enroll full-time in a two or four year degree program within the State of Maryland. Individual must be a Maryland resident, file a FAFSA by March 1st deadline and complete the Guaranteed Access Grant application by March 1st. Apply through the Maryland Guaranteed Access Grant website.
• Maryland 2+2 Transfer Scholarship. These scholarships are awarded by the Maryland Higher Education Commission, Office of Student Financial Assistance and are designed to assist transfer students from Maryland community colleges to attend a 4-year institution within the State. Individual must have earned an associate’s degree by the end of the semester you intend to transfer, complete the FAFSA by March 1st and demonstrate financial need.
• Edward T. and Mary A. Conroy Memorial Scholarship Program. This program is funded by the Maryland Higher Education Commission, Office of Student Financial Assistance and awarded by Capitol Technology University. Individual must be a Maryland resident at the time of the application and enrolled full or part-time in a degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. The program is designed to assist individuals affected by military service related disabilities or death whose veterans educational benefits have been exhausted; and, victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon in Virginia or the crash of United Airlines Flight 93 in Pennsylvania. Loans

The federal government has loan programs with low interest rates for undergraduate students and their parents. Please note, students can refuse to take out loans or can choose to take out less than the maximum allowed.

Loans are available to both undergraduate and graduate students and must be repaid. Students must be enrolled at least half time (six credits each semester) and cannot borrow more than their cost of attendance minus other financial aid received.

With the Federal Direct Loan students can take out a low-interest Direct Loan through a program sponsored by the federal government. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) determines a student's eligibility. If you file a FAFSA and include the Capitol Technology University code, 001436, Capitol's Financial Aid Office will inform you of the Direct Loan amount for which you qualify.

There are subsidized Direct Loans for students with financial need and unsubsidized Direct Loans for students regardless of financial need.

• Subsidized Direct Loans - the interest on the loan is paid by the federal government while students are enrolled in school at least half-time and during grace and deferment periods. Interest rates on the loans, which can differ according to the year the loans begin, are below commercial loan rates.
• Unsubsidized Direct Loans - students are responsible for the interest that accrues on the loan during in-school and grace periods. Interest may be paid as it accrues or it can be added to the loan principal.

All first-time borrowers of both subsidized and unsubsidized loans must participate in a loan entrance counseling session at least once. Capitol Technology University students must fulfill this requirement online. View frequently asked questions concerning Federal Direct Loans.

Parent and Grad PLUS Loans. The PLUS program, also sponsored by the federal government, is available to parents of dependent undergraduate students and graduate students who have borrowed their maximum annual or aggregate loan amount to help pay for their children's education regardless of financial need.

Students must be enrolled at least half-time (6 credits).

• The loan is based on credit history. Parents/Grad students must have good credit history.
• A FAFSA must be completed.
• Parents and Grad students may borrow up to the cost of the education minus any other aid their children receive. Parent/Grad student must complete the PLUS Master Promissory Note and credit check found online at http://www.studentloans.gov. The credit check must be done each academic year the loan is borrowed.
• Parents and Grad students with adverse credit history may be required to complete an online Entrance Counseling Session before the loan can be disbursed.
• Interest accrues upon disbursement. Interest can be paid as accrued or added to the principal of the loan.
• Repayment begins immediately after the final disbursement for the academic year.
• The interest rate for the PLUS is variable, with a maximum rate of 9 percent. The rate is adjusted

Students should apply for federal financial aid two months (8 weeks) before the session starts to allow adequate time for processing.  For aid for fall semester is it best to complete the FAFSA by June 30, for a spring start it is best to complete the FAFSA by October 30 and for a summer term start it is best to complete the FAFSA by February 28.

Veterans' Benefits

Eligible applicants and their dependents may qualify for veterans' educational benefits that are available through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. If you think you may be entitled to these benefits, contact the VA's education information hotline at 1-888-442-4551 or go to www.gibill.va.gov.

To use your benefits, you must be admitted to the college in a program approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

In general, you will begin to receive your benefits after the Registration and Records Office certifies your enrollment and education plan. You'll receive benefits only during your times of certified enrollment.

Contact the Registration and Records Office each semester you plan to use benefits so we can certify your enrollment. It can take two to three months for the federal government to process the benefits application.

First-time applicants for veterans' educational benefits

If you are applying for Veteran education benefits for the first time at Capitol Technology University, you must complete the Application to use VA Benefits at Capitol Technology University  form. Upon completion, mail or fax (301-369-2328) this form to the Registration and Records Office.You must also submit a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility and DD-214.  Documents can be e-mailed to VABenefits@CapTechU.edu or faxed to 301-369-2313.

All new and continuing applicants for veterans' educational benefits

All new and continuing veterans applying for educational benefits must complete a VA Certification Request form for each semester enrolled. You will find more information about these forms located in the MyCapitol portal.

Step 1: Complete your application to use VA Benefits.

If you are applying for Veteran education benefits for the first time at Capitol Technology University, you must complete the Application to use VA Benefits at Capitol Technology University  form. Upon completion, mail or fax (301-369-2328) this form to the Registration and Records Office.You must also submit a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility and DD-214.  Documents can be emailed to VaBenefits at Capitol or faxed to 301-369-2313

Step 2: Complete your application.

• Apply online using the Undergraduate Full-Time or an Undergraduate Part-Time Application (No Application Fee!)
• Download the full-time application (PDF) and fill it out by hand. (Be sure to enclose the $25 application fee.)

Step 3: Have your transcripts sent to Capitol.

An official, signed transcript of your high-school or previous college work must be sent directly from your school to this address:

For first time students, your school should also submit your ACT or SAT scores, if you have not had the testing agency send the scores directly to the Office of Admissions. Our code is 5101.

Step 4: Visit the campus.

Come see firsthand our state-of-the-art labs and multimedia classrooms. We welcome visits anytime, but we also offer special visiting days. RSVP to one of our open houses or request a private tour of the campus.

Step 5: Explore financial aid.

Capitol Technology University offers scholarships, private and institutional grants, loan options, work-study programs, and veteran's benefits. We'll put together the best financial aid package that works for you. Learn about our financial aid programs.

Step 5: You can expect a decision within two weeks

You can apply - and get accepted - any time before fall registration in late August or early September, or before spring registration in January. (We encourage you to submit your application well before these registration periods, and pay attention to financial aid priority dates.)

For Undergraduate:

Capitol is on rolling admission when it comes to the undergraduate programs. Students will not be admitted after the start of each semester.

For Graduate: 

Courses begin every two months.

As a master's student, you can apply — and be accepted — at any time. Courses are eight weeks long and are offered in six terms throughout the year. After filing an application, you can begin taking courses in the next term.

For Doctoral:

Fall: All application materials must be submitted by August 15 (classes begin late August)

Spring: All application materials must be submitted by December 1 (classes begin in early January)

Summer:  All application materials must be submitted by April 2 (classes begin in early May)
