International freshmen and transfer applicants are eligible for up to $8,000 in merit scholarships. All applicants are considered for merit scholarships upon submission of their application and supporting documents.

Additional institutional scholarships available:

Robotics Scholarship – Eligible candidates must have competed on their high school robotics team during grades 11 or 12.

Cyber Competitor Scholarship – Eligible candidates must be enrolling in one of Capitol Tech’s Cybersecurity programs and have either competed on their high school coding or cyber team, or attended one of Capitol Tech’s Cyber Summer Camps or Cyber Saturdays.

Step 1: Submit Application

International first-time freshman and transfer students may use the Common Application or our Undergraduate Application for International Students. There is a $50 application fee.

Step 2: Submit Proof of English Proficiency

All non-native English speakers must demonstrate a satisfactory level of English proficiency. The following options are acceptable: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) minimum score of 80 (internet-based)/550 (paper-based); International English Language Test (IELTS) minimum overall band score of 6.5 and no individual score lower than 6.0 Duolingo minimum score of 115; LanguageCert’s International ESOL B2 exam with all scores at 39 or higher (writing, reading, listening and speaking) SAT minimum Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score of 520; Evidence showing successful completion (C or higher) of English composition at an accredited university or college within the United States.

Step 3: Submit Official Transcripts

1. If you've attended a college/university outside of the U.S. you must send your academic records directly to the World Education Services to receive an official Course By Course Credential Evaluation. The World Education Services will send us a copy of your evaluation report and transcripts once complete.
2. If you have not attended a post-secondary institution, submit a copy of your secondary completion certificate along with your final grades (or examination results) to your application portal or email International Admissions at Capitol Tech. In situations where final grades have not been posted yet, submit your most recent grades/examination results.

Issuing Your F-1 Visa

Accepted students must submit the following before their I-20 is issued:

1. Statement of Finances: Applicants must submit bank statements verifying sufficient financial resources for living and educational expenses to cover one year at the university. These documents must be original and current (within six months of your anticipated start date) and show at least $44,690 (minus any scholarships you received from the institution or elsewhere). If you are being sponsored by another individual or by your employer, an original letter from each sponsor and/or employer verification must accompany these bank statements.
2. Copy of your passport identification page.
