National Online Learning Day

September 15, 2020

September 15 is National Online Learning Day. The first online high school, CompuHigh, was established in 1994. Capitol Tech first offered online courses, just a few years later in 1997. Since then, the prevalence of online classes has expanded greatly – both at the university and world-wide.

Always at the forefront of technology, Capitol Tech started offering master’s degrees online in 2001, with an online MBA introduced in 2003. In 2010, a doctorate in information assurance was added to the university’s roster of degrees and was offered almost entirely online.

Capitol Tech now offers seven bachelor’s degrees, thirteen master’s degrees (including two technical MBAs), and sixteen doctoral degrees with an online component. An additional two bachelor’s degrees are available with the last two years fully online. All of Capitol Tech’s master’s degrees are offered entirely online.

Most doctoral degrees are also offered fully online, with cybersecurity (DSc) and business and decision sciences (PhD) are primarily online, with an annual residency during which you will work with Capitol faculty members to shape your research ideas into a finished project.

The university offers online degrees in a variety of fields, with a level of subject matter expertise not often found at other online educational institutions. These fields of study include analytics and data science; aviation and unmanned systems; construction, facilities, and safety; security, intelligence, and critical infrastructure; and cyber and information security.

Examples of online degrees:

Capitol Tech’s online degrees have always been unique – offering small class sizes, industry subject matter experts as professors, and an interactive learning experience. Online students receive the same high-quality education as on-campus students.

Most of Capitol Tech’s online degree are held “anytime” – allowing for students to set their own pace of learning. There are also several online degrees that are held in real-time online, including bachelor’s in Data Science, Cybersecurity, and Management of Cyber and Information Technology.

The degree programs are competitively priced, with discounts available for active and retired military and employees of corporate partners. Online students also get to take advantage of the support services Capitol Tech offers, including career services, access to online job boards, and easy access to professors.

Online learning has changed dramatically since it was first introduced over twenty-five years ago, but Capitol Tech has been and will continue to be a leader in providing high-quality, technology-driven online education.
