His emerging-technology research examines artificial intelligence, digital twins, augmented reality, edge computing, machine learning, cyber-physical systems, and related technologies as components of governed socio-technical environments rather than as isolated technical solutions. His research on AI-enabled occupational safety, for example, examines the transition from reactive safety practices toward predictive systems incorporating machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, wearable technologies, data ethics, and human–AI collaboration. His digital-twin scholarship similarly integrates AI, machine learning, edge computing, data security, predictive maintenance, workforce readiness, sustainability, and regulatory compliance across industrial environments.
Dr. Shawe's academic work is informed by extensive professional leadership experience. He is a United States Navy veteran with more than 14 years of military service and five combat deployments and subsequently established a career spanning executive leadership, consulting, workforce strategy, regulatory compliance, security, training, and organizational resilience. He serves as Chief Executive Officer of New York Security Consulting Professionals LLC., integrating academic research with applied organizational and workforce challenges.
His educational and scholarly development reflects the same interdisciplinary philosophy. Dr. Shawe has earned four doctoral degrees from Capitol Technology University in Critical Infrastructure, Emergency and Protective Services, Cyber Leadership, and Sustainability. His doctoral research has examined whole-community critical infrastructure resilience, leadership in emergency response, domestic cyberterrorism and cybersecurity, and smart-grid technologies and sustainable energy management. He is continuing his doctoral scholarship in Occupational Health and Safety, extending his research into AI-enabled hazard detection, emerging safety technologies, human–digital convergence, and technology-supported workforce resilience.
Across his teaching, research, professional practice, and doctoral mentorship, Dr. Shawe seeks to bridge academic theory with operational application. His work reflects the view that increasingly complex challenges in cybersecurity, infrastructure protection, artificial intelligence, workplace safety, emergency management, and sustainability cannot be addressed effectively within isolated disciplinary boundaries. Instead, resilient systems require the coordinated integration of technology, governance, leadership, human judgment, ethical responsibility, and organizational capability.
