Capitol Technology University is proud to welcome The Honorable Charles F. Bolden Jr. as the keynote speaker for GreyCon 2025, our inaugural on-campus professional conference, taking place on Tuesday, July 15 in Laurel, Maryland.
A retired U.S. Marine Corps Major General and former NASA astronaut, General Bolden was appointed by President Barack Obama as the 12th Administrator of NASA in 2009. He became the first American of African Descent to be confirmed by the Senate for this position and only the second astronaut to lead the agency.
As NASA Administrator, he helped guide the agency through an era of transition—retiring the space shuttle, growing commercial space partnerships, and supporting landmark missions such as the Mars Curiosity Rover, Juno to Jupiter, and early development of the James Webb Space Telescope. As an astronaut, he flew four space shuttle missions and logged over 680 hours in space, including the mission that deployed the Hubble Space Telescope.
General Bolden’s military career includes over 100 combat missions in Vietnam, leadership roles at the U.S. Naval Academy, and command of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. He has received numerous awards, including the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, and multiple NASA honors. He is a member of both the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame and the National Aviation Hall of Fame.
Today, he serves as Founder and CEO Emeritus of The Charles F. Bolden Group, the operational center of Inter Astra™—the Global Community for the Business of Space. Through this work, he helps shape visionary leadership, expand talent optimization, and support space-driven innovation at the intersection of security, sustainability, and opportunity. His 2024 memoir, Star Sailor, shares his inspiring journey and mission to open doors for the next generation of explorers and changemakers.
Don’t miss this special keynote fireside chat and closing panel with General Bolden as we explore the future of space operations, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
