Announcing the new Center for Women in Cyber at Capitol Technology University



Capitol Technology University is proud to announce the establishment of our new Center for Women in Cyber (CWC). The CWC was created to empower women in cyber professions and educational programs to pursue their passion in this dominant and growing field.  

The CWC is coordinated by several leaders and innovators in the cyber industry. CWC Executive Director Dr. Diane M. Janosek is a Capitol Tech alumnus and a renown, international award-winning cybersecurity leader and author who specializes in the intersection of law and policy with technology. Dr. Janosek is dedicated to giving back to the community and increasing diversity in the cybersecurity, national security, and technology domains. CWC Assistant Director Fatou Sankare is Director of Cyber Labs and a full-time professor at Capitol Tech. Her areas of expertise include data science, privacy, policy, Information Security, and ethical hacking. CWC Coordinator Genesis Ortiz is a current undergraduate at Capitol Tech and is pursuing her Cybersecurity degree. She has an interest in cyber forensics and putting a stop to cybercrime. CWC Advisory Board members include Dr. Nikki Robinson, Security Architect and Adjunct Professor with Capitol Tech, Dr. Marianne Meins, Vice President of Converged Environment at Vectrus and leader in technical solutions for Defense, Homeland Security, and Intelligence Community sectors, Kimberly Mentzell, Director for Cybersecurity and Aerospace at the Maryland Department of Commerce and cyber educator for over twenty years, and Dr. Bill Butler, Vice President of Academic Affairs and former Cybersecurity Chair at Capitol Tech.  

With a focus on empowerment, mentorship, and support, CWC leadership will provide unique resources and networking opportunities to members to provide positive experiences and encouragement towards success in their career pursuits.  

The first of many events to be offered by the CWC will occur on Tuesday, November 15 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. A virtual Fireside Chat will be open to anyone interested in hearing more about the CWC and what it takes to be a cyber professional. Leadership will discuss their personal journeys towards achieving their goals and finding successful, fulfilling careers in the cyber industry. Those who are starting out in the field, as well as those who want to learn more about the cyber industry and its various specializations will benefit from this session.
