Capitol Mourns the Passing of Board Member Dr. Curtis Levinson

It is with profound sadness that Capitol Technology University announces the passing of board member and cybersecurity expert Dr. Curtis Levinson. This loss is felt throughout the Capitol Tech community and by all those whose lives were touched by Dr. Levinson.

Curtis Levinson’s time at Capitol Tech began in 2013 when he joined the Board of Trustees. He continuously proved himself to be a loyal and enthusiastic proponent of the university’s mission.

In 2015, Dr. Levinson was awarded an honorary doctorate degree from Capitol Tech, which he considered one of the greatest achievements of his career. He was regarded highly among staff, and his dedicated and hardworking nature never went unnoticed.

“Curtis Levinson was a very strong supporter of Capitol Tech and our students. During his eight years as a Board of Trustee member he always made time to participate in board functions and demonstrated how much he valued the university and the opportunities it provides for students,” said Haden Land, president of the Capitol Board of Trustees.

In addition to his work with the university, Dr. Levinson was an accomplished cybersecurity expert with over 30 years of experience. He served as Senior Principal at Global Cyber Risk, Chief Information Security Officer at MetTel, Inc, and worked many other highly-skilled critical roles in the cyber industry.

Despite his busy and fulfilling career, Dr. Levinson always found the time to devote to others. He was adored by his wife and two daughters, with whom he loved spending time, and by doctoral students, who remember him as being a fond and encouraging figure as they prepared for their defenses.

Additionally, Dr. Levinson was an animal lover and humanitarian, always striving to help those less fortunate than himself. He was known for buying gift cards to grocery stores and keeping them on hand at all times for anyone he came across who was in need.

Curtis Levinson will be sorely missed by everyone in the Capitol Tech community. His contributions to our university and the cybersecurity world will not be forgotten, and his legacy will live on through our wonderful students. Capitol Tech is grateful for the time Curtis devoted to us.
