Capitol Technology University’s online PhD program in aviation – approved this week by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) -- enables you to achieve your academic goals without having to take time off from your career.

In addition to the PhD, the university is offering an aviation degree at the master's level -- also 100% online.

For pilots that have no control over their schedule, middle or senior executives that struggle to find dedicated free time, or other professionals who must juggle work, life, and academic pursuits, this is the program you’ve been waiting for.

It is a doctorate designed to build on your research knowledge and interests. Moreover, it can be tailored to company-specific needs and thus further your goals at your organization. While you’ll have the freedom and flexibility to customize the program to your aims, you can also count on receiving expert support.  At each stage, you’ll be mentored by faculty with academic, industry and research experience.

Each student in the program has a dedicated chair and committee. These highly-qualified subject matter experts will guide you through all the stage of planning, research, analysis and defense. Alternatively, you may produce three refereed journal papers on a subject to form your research. You can decide which option is most suitable for your needs as you plan your research.

As a doctoral student in aviation at Capitol Tech, you won’t be saddled with classes on topics peripheral to your research. Nor will you have to take midterms or finals. In this European-style doctoral program, there are no formal classes, assignments and -- most importantly for busy professionals -- no residencies. Your schedule is up to you and your committee. There is no rush to complete a dissertation. The program is divided into ten sections that mark your path to completion.

Seeking to transfer in credits from previous research? The program will accept up to 42 credit hours from within the last five years, provided the classes in question are aligned with your current interests, and you earned at least a B grade. This generous transfer credit policy has the potential to drastically reduce your time to completion.

Earning a doctoral degree is no small achievement. It is recognized universally as a demonstration of the highest caliber in scholarship and research.   With the flexibility of our program, you can be confident of success. Apply today and start the final and most rewarding degree you will need in the aviation field.
