LAUREL, MD—Capitol Technology University and Fire Rockets have renewed their ongoing partnership through a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) designed to continue expanding opportunities for students through STEM education, rocketry programs, and aerospace career pathways.
This longstanding partnership brings together Fire Rockets’ expertise in educational rocketry and outreach with Capitol Tech’s aerospace and engineering programs. Together, they share a commitment to preparing students for careers in technology.
Through educational programming, rocket launches, STEM challenge events, mentorship, volunteerism, and other activities, they aim to increase awareness and accessibility in STEM. For example, one partnership event recently celebrated International Observe the Moon Night with the community. The night featured astronomy talks, rocket launches, and more.
Capitol Tech will also provide campus facilities for Fire Rockets events throughout the year, promote events, and implement joint grant opportunities and aligned projects. Fire Rockets Challenge Program participants who go on to enroll at Capitol Tech may also be eligible for a scholarship. Capitol Tech students are encouraged to get involved with Fire Rockets programs and workshops as volunteers and interns with the chance to earn academic extra credit for their efforts.
Fire Rockets will support Capitol Tech’s outreach and STEM programming by marketing events and assisting with the annual Capitol STEM Challenges. They will also provide oversight for Capitol Tech's K–12 rocketry program and awards ceremony, as well as mentor students interested in high-power rocketry.
