2024 STEM Challenge | Friday, April 5, 2024

Participants will build a database containing an inventory of items related to fun topics (ex. a music collection, or toy collection). They will pick a topic and work in clusters with assigned student helpers to guide them through the implementation. Participants will present their work and compete for the best database! The scoring will be based on time, quality, and clarity.
Space limited to 20 students | Prize To Be Announced 

Students will be challenged to design and build a free-standing structure using LEGO block and leverage Modern Construction technology, electronics, drones, and laser survey.
Space limited to 24 students | LEGO Set Prize

Participants will land aircraft in various airports and other locations and will be judged based on the difficulty of the landings within the simulation.
Space limited to 10 students | Capitol Wings

Students will be given lessons on how to safely fly a drone. The session will then transition into competitive drone racing to win a drone! Session dependent on optimal weather conditions.
Space limited to 20 students | Drone Prize

Students will participate in a cutting edge CTF with challenges of increasing difficulty. The event was designed and will be led by our own Cyber Competition Team Signal-9. 
Space limited to 25 students in person and unlimited online | Red Team/Blue Team T-Shirt Prize

Teams must solve the math problems to unlock the next set of challenges. The first team to “escape” wins.
Space limited to 9 students (3 Teams) | Toothbrush Robots Prize

ALPHA Observatory
Students will tour the observatory then engage in activities such as observe the sun and visible planets. Students learn how to analyze captured observatory data to identify meteors and identify constellations.

Space Flight Operations Training Center (SFOTC)
Imagine working in mission control launching and controlling a real satellite missions. You will be challenged to ensure that the mission is a success and the data downloaded.

Space limited to 24 students | Lunar Phase T-Shirt Prize

Students will be challenged to assemble their own rocket and launch it high into the sky.
