Forbes America's Top Colleges badge for 2023

Forbes has ranked our university amongst the top 8%! As the first major American business magazine, Forbes is an internationally acclaimed industry leader and trusted source for emerging news and researched rankings. Every year, Forbes showcases the finest U.S. colleges from a list of institutions that educate undergraduates according to their Carnegie Classification as well as those that offer doctoral research, master’s studies, and specialized programs in engineering, business, and art. Our university was named within the top 500, among an impactful list of institutions like Princeton, Yale, MIT, and more.

The America’s Top Colleges 2023 rankings are based on specific data related to student success, return on investment, alumni influence, impressive graduation rates, high graduate salaries, great outcomes for low-income students, and additional standards of excellence. Capitol showed standout success in several categories, including scholarships and average grant aid and alumni salary rates.

Average Grant Aid

Amongst our full-time students, 80% receive some form of financial aid, with an estimated $4.5 million offered in full or partial-tuition scholarships. Our grant funding also offers up to $12,000 towards helping students with their tuition and our average grant aid is estimated at over $16,000. Through our Chargers Assistance Program (CAP), we also assist our graduates with repaying their student loans. CAP provides a financial safety net that allows students to focus on their academics while in school, and if their income after graduation is modest, we will assist with the repayment of their loans.

Alumni Salary Rate

Our return on investment (ROI) was ranked amongst the top in several studies by Georgetown University, and thanks to our partnerships with industry leaders, 84% of our graduates receive internship opportunities or a job offer (or pursue graduate school) within 90-days of graduation. Our alumni are highly sought after by recruiters and find employment with top companies and government contractors like NASA, NSA, Department of Defense, Microsoft, IBM, Northrop Grumman, and more. The median 10-year average salary rate for our alumni is $134,900, which is almost twice the median average salary in the U.S.

This prestigious award is not the only one our university received this year. Capitol has also been recognized by BestColleges.com as #6 of the top colleges in Maryland offering online programs. OnlineMastersDegrees.org recognized Capitol as having the “Best Online Master's Programs of 2023”, as well as the most affordable. And the Center for Security and Emerging Technology (CSET) has recognized Capitol as one of the “Top NCAE- C Public and Private Four-Year Institution for Cyber Bachelor’s Graduates” since 2010.

Our university is extremely honored to receive this Forbes recognition of our mission to educate the next generation of leaders and innovators and prepare them for lifelong career success.
