Director of Human Resources



POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Vice President of Finance and Administration, provide support to the staff of the University. This is a people-centered position and requires working closely with all personality types. Ability to maintain confidentiality and unbiased opinions is a must.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

Responsible for all employment activities: job postings for faculty, staff and student; internal and external advertising. Answer questions regarding job vacancies and candidate screening, personnel actions, other events related to human resources.

Provide timely communication to hiring managers and job candidates regarding open and closed employment searches.

Organize and maintain recruitment records: position postings, letters of inquiry, resumes and applications, applicant logs, screening processes, and all correspondence with successful and unsuccessful candidates.

Assist hiring managers and screening committees with interview schedules, employment references, and the verification of education and work history. Coordinate assignments arranged through temporary employment agencies.

Create and maintain computer records using MS Office and Jenzebar applications. Organize and maintain all physical personnel records of current and former employees.

Perform quarterly employee reviews to ensure that records are accurate and complete. Administer employee benefits: health, dental, life, retirement, education.

Perform monthly audits of the benefits to ensure that proper contributions are being made.

Ensure that departmental bills are paid in a timely manner; work to resolve any departmental vendor issues. Reconcile department budget.

Update VP of Finance and Administration on all HR issues, and provide recommendations.

Ensure compliance with regulatory laws and University policies and procedures.

Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Finance and Administration.

EXPERIENCE and CERTIFICATIONS:
  • BA degree in Human Resources; Masters degree preferred. 
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred. 
  • Minimum of ten years of HR experience, although fewer years of experience are acceptable if combined with Masters degree and HR certifications.
