On Monday, April 11, scholarship recipients, scholarship benefactors, family members, board members, faculty and staff gathered in the William G. McGowan Center to honor the hard work of Capitol’s scholarship recipients and the generosity of scholarship benefactors.
During the breakfast, Dr. Michael T. Wood, president, commended the effort that Capitol’s scholarship recipients continue to put forth both in the classroom and in their local communities. He also made sure to note that without the continued support of scholarship benefactors the opportunities afforded to many Capitol students would not be available.
Capitol senior Justin Gensel took the podium next to again thank the scholarship sponsors who have helped make his education and the education of many fellow classmates possible. Gensel spoke to the dedication necessary for achieving collegiate and professional goals, and how Capitol scholars are striving towards these goals every day.
The Capitol community was also pleased to hear from alumnus Ed Coyle, ’97, during the Scholarship Appreciation Breakfast. Having earned his degree in electronics engineering technology, Coyle detailed how instrumental Capitol College was to his professional development. By receiving a hands-on education and being welcomed into an interconnected community of Capitol alumni, Coyle hit the ground running when he joined the workforce. Now he is the one searching for qualified and motivated Capitol graduates as employees.

Peterson Memorial Fund and the, Prince George’s County Chamber of Commerce, among others.
