In its 2019 annual Salary Survey, the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) reported that the average starting salary for engineering graduates was $66,638, second only to computer science majors.

For those with a degree in mechatronics engineering, the national average salary for a mechatronics engineer is $72,323,according to Glassdoor. The Glassdoor salary estimates are based on 41,822 salaries that were submitted by mechatronics engineers.

For mechatronics engineers, the industries of top-paying employers vary widely, but all have a focus on advancing technology. See below for a list of some of the top-paying employers and their areas of focus.

Servotech Inc

Specializing in mechatronics, Servotech Inc works in the automotive, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, and aerospace flight control industries. Focusing on control design, Servotech creates products for companies such as GM, Honda, and AT&T, providing systems that allow for seamless communication between software modules and control systems. Per Glassdoor, yearly salaries for mechatronics engineers start at $71,000.

Cummins

Cummins provides engines, power systems, and components for the automotive industry. This involves developing electronics specifications, designing systems and components, and testing. Cummins has a focus on innovation, developing its first engine in 1919 and the first electric heavy-duty truck in 2017. Per Glassdoor, yearly salaries for mechatronics engineers start at $79,000.

Samsung

Samsung has various subsidiaries and locations all over the country. Mechatronics engineers at Samsung may find themselves developing technology for televisions, smart phones and watches, tablets, and network systems. Samsung also develops smart home technology, medical devices, and digital health products, providing a lot of variety for engineering employees. Per Glassdoor, yearly salaries for mechatronics engineers start at $82,000.

NASA

NASA utilizes mechatronics engineers in support of satellite operations, space craft development, and robotics. Specifically, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory employs a number of mechatronics engineers as they work on robotic exploration of the solar system. A mechatronics engineer at NASA may work on creating landing gear for a new rover or designing a control system for a satellite. Per Glassdoor, yearly salaries for mechatronics engineers start at $88,000.
