Dr. Ian McAndrew, FRAeS, delivers keynote at ATDMAE Conference in Shanghai, China

On July 5 – 7, 2019, Professor Ian R. McAndrew, Ph.D., FRAeS, Dean of Doctoral Programs at Capitol Technology University, delivered a keynote speech at the Advanced Technologies in Design, Mechanical, and Aeronautical Engineering (ATDMAE) Conference in Shanghai, China.

The ATDMAE Conference, which is in its third year, serves as an international forum for advanced technology research and innovation in design, mechanical, and aeronautical engineering. The Hong Kong Society of Mechanical Engineers and Nazarbayev University serve as the event co-sponsors.

In his keynote, “Cybersecurity in the Design and Production Process,” Dr. McAndrew discussed the importance of combining research across seemingly separate fields to protect not only intellectual properties, but also the critical infrastructure of production, as well as the challenges and opportunities associated with this approach. Dr. McAndrew informed attendees that this perspective will become increasingly critical within the next few years.

The 2019 ATDMAE Conference attracted expert researchers and academics from countries around the world, including Australia, China, India, Kazakhstan, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Participants showcased their work and defended their results before peers.

“I always enjoy listening to researchers present their work,” said Dr. McAndrew. “What really delights is that I see our research and student work at Capitol is equal to that, if not better, than what others achieve. Indeed, world-class research is our commitment and adding to the body of knowledge is our mission” he added.

Capitol Technology University continues to define what it means to be a leader in high-demand technology fields, both nationally and internationally, positioning students for competitive jobs immediately upon graduation.

So far this year, Capitol has held a presence on the global stage in Belgium, China, Greece, Holland, Malaysia, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the United States, with additional dates scheduled in Canada, Spain, and Hong Kong.
